Film: 10. Social/Political Response

Artist Statement: For this assignment we had a list to pick out a topic to form an image out of, we could use our own ideas and thoughts but i just chose suicide to make an image about. Mostly Cyberbullying. Suicide is a strong topic for me to talk about because i've had a past with it, that I choose not to talk about.

My thought process for this assignment was "hmm what could I do for an image about suicide? and how your words and actions can affect someone's life." I thought "Hey I love photography, so I wanted to have my camera involved in the image. I looked up ideas and found one of a person holding a camera to their head like "Shooting a shot, shooting a gun" type thing. I thought it was a strong image so I tried that and I thought it was to plain so I needed to add more. Cyberbullying came to my mind. Flash cards with hurtful words on a white wall is what I thought of. I tried it and I liked it, it filled in the negative space. But I needed to add more so I thought and chose to add a thought bubble or two where my head was.

Some difficulties I came across were setting up my camera so it would get all of the flash cards on the wall and also me. Lighting was kind of difficult because I didn't know if I liked a flash or a regular light.
