Film: 09. Conflict

Artist Statement: For this assignment "Conflict" I chose to take a photo of my eyes with broken glass in one and my other just normal. I was going to just do a regular print but the dark room has no developer so it didn't go so well. When I got to photography I ended up making a cyanotype which is just a green type of fabric that ends up turning blue when it is exposed to the sunlight. I really like how they look and how it is much more different than an original developed image on glossy photo paper.

How I exposed it was I used a contact print to put my transparency photo and put the cyanotype fabric under, I then waited 15 minutes for it to be exposed in natural sunlight and then after I put cold water into a plastic thing and then I put the cyanotype in the water for 2-3 minutes then I change the water and put it in for another 2 minutes.

One thing I would change is personally I think I exposed the cyanotype to long and you couldn't really see the broken glass in my eye which kind of screwed up the whole processing of what I originally wanted. I think I could've done better on keeping track of how long I expose it but then again it was my first time trying a cyanotype.
