Duck stamp

This project I did the Black bellied whistling duck for the duck stamp. I chose it because I like how they look with that brownish orange on the wings and match it with a little white and a black belly. To create this piece, I was think about making them sitting and standing on something instead of just floating on the water, so I compared few pictures of them sitting and on land, I made two birds just on the wood chilling.

The work is made using color pencils and a pencil that is used to sketch and erased after. At first I didn't know when to start, so I slowly start from the ducks head to the body, then made the woods and continued with the second bird.

I used the elements of shape, form. And I used the principle of design of space by making two ducks and on both left and right on the paper making it balanced and pop out. My project evolves from just a blank sketch to a colorful one. But the only thing that is bad is I need to fill it in more and make the shadows and some details of movements to make the artwork come alive.
