A lot of players in basketball and many other sports tend to be draft busts, but not the number one pick, NBA superstar Anthony Edwards. He has transformed the game with his crazy athleticism, and not to mention being the youngest player to score 1,000 official points. He is a true freak athlete and is still young, so he has more things to accomplish, maybe even winning another gold medal and being the possible MVP in two to three years.
Anthony Edwards is the star and amazing shooting guard for the Minnesota Timberwolves and the reigning 2026 NBA All-Star Game MVP. Known by his nickname "Ant-Man," he has ascended to become one of the league's most dominant scorers, currently ranking 3rd in the NBA. William Reiter states, “In the 26 minutes that he played in the All-Star Games, he had 32 points, was 50% from the field, and he averaged over 29 points this season.”
Edwards has been on a historic scoring tear, recently surpassing Kobe Bryant for the second-most 40-point games by a shooting guard before the age of 25, trailing only Michael Jordan. But his career wasn’t always too good. He wears the No. 5 jersey to honor his mother and grandmother, who both passed away on the fifth day of the month in 2015. He became a father to his daughter, Aislynn, in March 2024.
He was the youngest player to score 1,000 points, although he recently became the third-youngest player in NBA history to reach 10,000 career points, trailing only LeBron James and Kevin Durant. And those two players are very good Considering that Lebron is the all-time leading scorer and got drafted straight out of high school, and Kevin was picked number two in the draft with freakishly long arms and legs similar to Victor Wembyama. Will Reiter also said, “I think Anthony Edwards is a good, energetic player and is a leader for the team and won the MVP for good reason.” This is why he is a really good player.
Ultimately, Anthony Edwards has evolved from a high-flying lottery pick into the unquestioned cornerstone of the Minnesota Timberwolves and a leading candidate for the new 'Face of the NBA.' With his unique blend of elite scoring, lockdown perimeter defense, and magnetic charisma, Ant is no longer just showing flashes of potential; he is delivering consistent, historic performances. As he continues to mature and lead with a joyful, 'killer instinct' approach, the question is no longer if he will lead Minnesota to a championship, but when.
