On Tuesday, January 7, 2026, and Saturday, January 24, 2026, there were two separate shootings in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Unfortunately, Alex Pretti and Renne Good tragically lost their lives to these events. Renne Good passed on January 7, while Alex Pretti passed on January 24. Both of their families were devastated.
Alex Pretti was a 37-year-old man who loved the outdoors and going on adventures. Pretti worked for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Pretti was born in Illinois. Michael Pretti, Alex Pretti's father, said, “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.” He will always be remembered as a warm-hearted and kind person.

This is Renee Good
37-year-old Renee Good was an American citizen and was the mother of three. She had a passion for writing, and had recently moved to Minneapolis with her wife named Becca Good. Macklin Good, Renee Good's wife, said, “She literally sparkled… I mean, she didn’t wear glitter, but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time.” She will always be remembered as a person who cares about everyone and everything.
Two federal officers fired weapons at Alex Pretti and Renne Good. One of them was a U.S. Border Patrol agent, and the other one was a Customs and Border Protection agent. The first shooting took place on January 7, 2026, when Renne Good refused to exit her car when asked to by ICE agents; Renne then proceded to pull away from the officers, while hitting an agent in the process. The officer felt threatened enough to open fire on Good. Weeks later, on January 24, 2026, Alex Pretti was recording federal ICE agents with his phone to document their movements during an immigration operation in the streets of Minneapolis, leading to him getting shot on the spot, after resisting agents and allegedly pulling a concealed weapon from his person. The same days that these shootings happened, the 2 agents were placed on leave by our President Trump.
This was a tragic event to both families.
To sum up everything, this was a tragedy for both families. Alex Pretti passed away at 9:32 AM, January 24, and the time of when Renne Good passed is unknown. President Trump said, “The shooting of Renee Good was a vicious situation where she willfully and viciously ran over the ICE Officer". Overall, this was a very sad event.
