D’Angelo Ponds is an amazing football player on IU. D’Angelo is a center (defensive) back. After 3 straight years of being a corner back on IU, he is entering the NFL draft on January 22nd. He was born in Miami and even got rejected from getting on their team. He is ranked number 5 on the NFL draft board, which is very high. Just think about how many collages and cornerbacks there are!
D’Angelo declared for the draft after an amazing 2025 season. D’Angelo says he will be entering the draft after his junior season, skipping his senior season. D’Angelo said, “I have not officially announced it, but yeah that's the plan” when talking about the draft. He is projected to get picked in the 2nd or 3rd round. Even though he is undersized only being 5 '9 170 pounds he is an outstanding pick for the NFL draft. It is not clear which team he will get drafted to yet.

D’Angelo has played a very impressive season! First of all, he was named the defensive MVP player in both the Rose and Peach bowls. He has exceptional technique, and he has some insane catches and tackles throughout his season. He is very good at tackling; he has only a 3% missed tackle rate. He has 61 tackles for the season, almost 4 per game!
D’Angelo is a very cool person outside of football. He has a lot of cool facts about him, one being that he has a strong connection with his father, who supports his career. Sadly his mother was facing a bad illness, making him step out from the team temporarily in January 2026. Also He was born and raised in Miami, Florida, along with multiple other players on the Hoosiers football team.
