Have you ever been to a Veterans Day program? EJHS just hosted a Veterans Day program and I will tell you all the information you need to know about it.
The program began at 10 AM and was hosted in the gym. The person who helped make the Veterans Day program is named Mrs. Schlemmer and she said “I liked the Veterans Day program. It was very patriotic and memorable. Also, the student council did a great job.¨ When everyone got into the gym, the Choir started performing the Star Spangled Banner. The Choir's first performance ever was in 1993. A Choir member named Aaliyah said, “It was ok, I liked it.” A Choir member who actually performed is named William and he said “It was good. I was a bit nervous because I was in front of many people”. After the Choir performed, the entire school had a moment of silence. Then, A bunch of student councils said quotes that were war-related.

When the moment of silence ended, the band started performing the instrumental of the Marches of the Armed Forces. A band member named Benjamin said “It was pretty exciting and I wasn't too nervous”. Then the Choir started performing This land is our land combined with Home of the brave. A student named Jackson said “I thought they did really good and the song choices were also good.” After the Choir finished performing, the principal started presenting a slideshow that showed pictures of veterans at our school. A veteran at our school named Woodcock said “The program was much better than last year”.
The thing that inspired Veteran's Day was the end of World War 1. WW1 ended on November 11, 1918 so that is why we celebrate every November 11.

Some people wear or buy poppies on veterans day and you might be wondering why. The reason why is because Poppies are associated with World War One. According to Imperial War Museum, “The poppy is the enduring symbol of remembrance of the first world war”.
The program ended at 11 AM on November 11, 2024. November 11 will always be an important date because that is when war ended and many soldiers could finally go home. To the soldiers that couldn't go home and lost their lives fighting in war, we will always honor you every year in EJHS on November 11.
