On May 4th, 2026, at the Owen Valley track, the Track and Field athletes had a meet! The meet was against Owen Valley and South Putnam. Edgewood girls' athletes won 1st by 5 points, and the boys got 2nd.
The meeting started at 5:30, and right away, about 4 events were going on. One of the first events was the girls' high jump, where Khloee Wykoff got first place by jumping 4 '8 feet! Another event going on around that time is the 100m dash. Many people ran in the 100, but in the girls' 100, Kayley Finch, in 7th grade, won, getting 14.7 seconds! One more event that's very fun is the relays. There is a 4x1, a 4x4, and a 4x8. For example, if you run the 4x1, your team is running one lap, but if you're in the 4x4, each teammate is running a lap, then handing the baton to the next person. The Edgewood girls and boys 4x1 relay team worked very hard and won! On top of that, the girls broke the 26-year record!
Many student-athletes competed at this meet and had lots of fun, too! Student-athlete Goldie Russle was at the meet and did very well! She ran the 4x4 on the A team with Sawyer Hancock, Khloee Wykoff, and Kendall Quackenbush. When Goldie was asked how she thinks she's been doing at the recent meets, she said, "I've been very consistent in the past meets, so I've been doing well.” When Goldie was asked how she thinks Edgewood has been doing, she said, “I think Edgewood did really well, and we got first place”.

Looking closer at some events, you can see that Edgewood did very well. In one of the first races, the boys 4x8, Wyatt Smith, Jack Musselwhite, Matthew Rouker, and Amos Mobley got first place with a time of 9 minutes and 24 seconds, getting Edgewood 5 points! In the girls' 4x8, Abigail Gregory, Payton Connelley, Audrey Clark, and Isla Baker got 2nd place getting Edgewood 3 points! Clearly, the relay team did very well, but long-distance runners did very well, too. In the 800-meter run, Isla Baker got 2nd overall with a time of 2 minutes and 45 seconds, getting Edgewood 3 points!
To sum everything up, Edgewood did very well at this meet. Many people came and enjoyed this and cheered people on! Girls got first place, and boys coming in second was an excellent meet
