The ingredients and procedure are approximate. Experiment! In a large pot put beans, water, pork hocks, onions, green peps, garlic, and lentils. Bring to boil and then simmer gently for 2-3 hrs. I cooked it mostly uncovered, stirring occasionally. About 3/4 hr before it is done add the rice and sausages. Take out the pork hocks and cut off some meat and fat and return the meat and fat to the soup. I added more garlic, the cloves and nutmeg toward the end of the cooking. When it is done and cooling add the olive oil. I would be tempted to add a dash or two of cloves and nutmeg and a bit of olive oil when reheating. Like any bean or vegetable soup it can be cooled in the bowl with a little beer.
