Hands On Literacy Activities

On this tab you will see a few images of hands on literacy activities. These activities are meant to be done during centers, as introductions, or even to wrap up a lesson. Hands on activities like these promote teamwork as well as critical thinking skills in order to learn different phonemic awareness skills.

The photo on the left is a mystery bag activity. The students will receive a letter, then they must feel the items in the bags, determine what they are, then decide if the item begins with the specified letter. After, the students will write the name of the object under the appropriate number on the worksheet.

The photo on the right is a sorting activity. The students will have a designated letter, which is "B" for this activity. The students will then sort the objects into items that start with "B" and items that do not. After, they will color in the objects that begin with "B" on the worksheet.
