Description of the Artifact:
This artifact was created in my math methods course. It is a bulletin board showing pattern block manipulatives, their uses, benefits, and examples of activities to use them in the classroom. These manipulatives are meant for a large age range of students, from preschool to fifth grade.
Rationale:
This artifact demonstrates the use of resources to aid instruction. Manipulatives are extremely useful and beneficial in elementary math classrooms. Children are learning concepts for the first time, so using a hands-on tool can allow them to grasp more information. As a teacher, it is extremely important to incorporate manipulatives into the classroom in any subject to aid students in their understanding through a tactile experience.
