Description of the Artifact:

This artifact was created in my language arts methods course. It is a poster which gives several examples of the different text structures. It goes through five of the most common text structures, and provides examples surrounding the same topic, so that students are able to relate the structures to real life examples.

Rationale:

This artifact demonstrates the engagement of students in an activity that provides them a reference tool for the different text structures. This assignment was also done in groups, so that students could bounce ideas off of each other and collaborate to further their understanding of the concept at hand. This is a more hands on instructional strategy that allows students to create something with a group of peers, while maintaining a structured outline for expectations of what should be included on the poster.
