Description of the Artifact:
This is a kindergarten math lesson that focuses on subtraction. Students would work on recognizing numerical phrases in sentences and putting them into number bonds. Through visual representations and number stories, students will be able to form subtraction sentences.
Rationale:
Visual and audible representations of mathematical concepts can allow for students to use mental schemas to physically create number sentences. In kindergarten, it is extremely important for students to begin to understand mathematical vocabulary and basic structures to set them up for future success.
