Description of the Artifact:
This lesson plan entails a classroom discussion on the different types of water pollution. The students will learn the sources and impacts of the pollution on wildlife. Once discussed, the students will be engaged in a collaborative activity where they need to differentiate between clean and polluted water. As pictures are shown on the board they will decide if the water is healthy or unhealthy and write their answer on a whiteboard to be held up. We will then discuss the correct answer and explain why this answer applies.
Rationale:
By utilizing a classroom discussion and activity, the students will be able to engage in the learning by being active participants. The students will have the opportunity to ask their own questions, which will enhance our discussion on water pollution. The collaborative activity will check understanding of the topic at hand without fear of negative feedback. This can lead to a differentiated lesson based on their answers.
