Description of the Artifact:
This document is a lesson plan created for my pedagogy lab, where I taught English Language Arts and math to kindergarteners. The students were working on the pronunciation of digraphs as well as identifying them in words given to them.
Rationale:
Identifying the beginning, middle, and end sounds of words is an integral skill for new readers. Being able to listen to and dissect words helps them to process sounds and create them as well. With a mixture of different digraphs, students will be able to find silent letters and use that knowledge to their advantage, as they are first starting to read.
