Description of the Artifact:
This is a performance assessment designed in my Assessment in Education course. It allows students to work in teams to use math to split up a paycheck and understand spending and saving.
Rationale:
A performance assessment is a great way to have the students demonstrate their knowledge or skills to the teacher. This type of assessment is very closely related to instruction, and most of the time have beneficial real life applications. As the students are working, they are also learning. This allows them to show their collaboration, responsibility, and time management skills along with the core subject they are working on. By designing an assessment that requires this type of work, students will be engaged and participating in active learning.
