Description of the Artifact:
This document is an example of a social story I created in my exceptionalities course. It was created for a hypothetical student with communication issues, speech issues, or autism.
Rationale:
Autism is frequently found in the classroom, with students having varying needs. If a student with Autism were to be included in a regular education classroom, even for part of a day, it is vital to have communication with that student so you can better understand their needs. Social, emotional, linguistic, and cognitive learning is imperative for students who cannot express these feelings or have trouble communicating them. A social story is a great way to get a message across to a student using picture aids, so that they can understand a safe and effective way to communicate with others.
