Title of the Artifact: Aquatic Habitats Lesson Plan-Exit Ticket
Danielson’s Framework:
Planning and Preparation
1f: Designing Student Assessments
Aligned assessments provide accurate, clear evidence and allow for the analysis of student understanding and mastery of instructional outcomes.
Intasc Standard: #6: Assessment of Student Learning.
The teacher understands and uses multiple methods of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress, and to guide the teacherʼs and learnerʼs decision making.
Description of the Artifact:
On the last page of the lesson plan under the appendix, an exit ticket can be found to test the students' knowledge and retainment of the lesson. As a formative assessment, it includes a key take away from the lesson. On this exit ticket specifically, students are given a picture of a pond. Below the picture are animals and plants discussed in the lesson. The lesson associated frogs with ponds, so students should be able to remember the presentation and circle the correct photo of an animal or plant to go with the pond.
Rationale:
Formative assessments, like exit tickets, are great ways to make sure that your students understand the lesson. These assessments are quick, but straight to the point and allow students to demonstrate their learning. Exit tickets are good transitional pieces between lessons to make sure that the information taught will stick with the students. They are also good ways to monitor and adjust future lessons to ensure differentiation in the classroom.
