U.S. Government and Civics is an academic course in the study of the origins and nature of government with special emphasis on the theoretical and practical aspects of citizenship, its rights and duties; the duties of citizens to each other and to the government. It includes the study of civil law and civil code, and the study of government with attention to the role of citizens in the operation and oversight of government. Topics will include the Constitution, the court system, individual rights, connections between government and economic systems and current events. Students will practice writing and research and will engage ni analysis of varied political and social topics.
