CP Physical Science of Everyday Phenomena - Grades 9, 10, 11, 12
1 credit
This is a lab based course studying Physics and Chemistry using everyday materials and ideas. Chemistry topics to be covered include: chemical bonding, acids & bases, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, and nuclear chemistry through the study of soap & shampoos, fireworks, nuclear power plants & nuclear medicine, and common household products & OTC medicines. Physics topics include: energy and its transfer, electricity and fields, batteries and electrical storage, kinematics and projectile motion, impulse and conservation of momentum, collisions, potential and kinetic energy, conservation of mechanical energy, and circular motion and centripetal force. These will be covered through three subunits: Our Battery-Powered Lives, How to Siege a Castle in 5 Easy Steps, and Amusement Park Physics.
Prerequisite: Algebra I
