020012 Studio Art (B)
1.5 credits (weighted)
This course is intended for, but not limited to, the student interested in the possibility of pursuing a career in art. The primary objective of this course is to create a portfolio of work that demonstrates inquiry through art and design and development of materials, processes, and ideas over the course of a year. Portfolios include works of art and design, process documentation, and written information about the work presented. In May, students will have the option to submit portfolios to The College Board for evaluation based on specific criteria, which include skillful synthesis of materials, processes, and ideas and sustained investigation (guided by questions) through practice, experimentation, and revision. Students may choose to submit either the 2D, 3D or Drawing portfolios. The AP Art and Design course addresses the following learning outcomes: the ability to (1) conduct a sustained investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision, guided by questions; (2) skillfully synthesize materials, processes, and ideas; and (3) articulate, in writing, information about one's work.
