This course provides students with a foundational understanding of how mass media shapes and reflects society. Students will explore the history and evolution of mass communication—from early print and radio to digital and social media—while examining the ethical and legal responsibilities of media professionals. Through hands-on projects, students will develop skills in journalism, learning how to research, write, and produce news stories for different audiences using different mediums. In addition, students will learn visual storytelling techniques to enhance their communication across media platforms. This course prepares students to think critically about media messages and to create content that is accurate, ethical, and engaging.
This course will count as an English Language Arts elective.
