2 credits
PREREQUISITE: Students are required to go through an application process in the spring of their junior year; this program will be scheduled during Periods 1-2 from 8:30-10 AM. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from the medical center.
This program will introduce selected senior students each year to a variety of areas at the Hershey Medical Center. The HCEP (Healthcare Career Exploration Program) program allows high school seniors the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals in a real-world environment and to explore various healthcare professions. Students who have demonstrated an interest in medical, science and related careers are targeted for this senior program. Students must apply and be accepted into this program. During the 1st semester, students will rotate through various departments at Hershey Medical Center from 8:30-10 AM Tuesday - Thursday. Seminars will be held on Mondays and Fridays at the hospital. Near the end of the semester, students will present a senior project via Zoom. Journals and attendance cards submitted weekly via Schoology will provide the supportive evidence for the grade. HCEP will be occurring during Semester 1.
