Yearbook - Grade 10, 11, 12
1 credit
This introductory course gives students hands-on experience in creating the school’s official yearbook from concept to completion. Students will learn the fundamentals of photography, journalistic writing, page design, and marketing while working collaboratively under real publication deadlines. Yearbook staff members are responsible for planning, producing, and selling the yearbook and are expected to attend and cover school events that take place outside the regular school day. This course builds teamwork, communication, and creative problem-solving skills while allowing students to capture and preserve the story of the school year.
This counts as an English Language Arts elective once. If taken and completed again, it counts as a general elective credit.
Yearbook II - Grade 12
1 credit
This course is designed for experienced yearbook staff members who have previously completed 1 semester of Yearbook, Photography, or Journalism. Students in Yearbook II take on leadership roles in editing, design, photography, writing, and marketing, overseeing all aspects of yearbook production from planning to publication. Senior staff members serve as section editors, mentors, and project managers, ensuring that deadlines, quality standards, and creative goals are met.
Because the yearbook documents the full range of school life, students are expected to attend and cover after-school and evening events throughout the year. This course emphasizes advanced communication, organization, and leadership skills while providing authentic experience in media production and project management.
This course counts as a general elective credit and not as an English elective credit.
