Palmyra Area High School operates on a two-semester schedule, divided into four nine-week marking periods. Students are scheduled for five classes each semester, and most courses run for one semester (half the school year). Over the course of an academic year, most students earn 10 credits toward graduation.
Students are encouraged to meet with their school counselor to discuss their individual plan of study. Course planning is most successful when it involves collaboration among students, parents, teachers, and counselors. However, it is ultimately the student’s responsibility to create a schedule that aligns with their goals, interests, and graduation requirements.
Course selection requests will be entered online during a designated two-week scheduling window. After requests are submitted, tentative schedules will be created and reviewed by school counselors to resolve any conflicts. Students will then be able to view their preliminary course requests in PowerSchool.
Finalized schedules will be available in PowerSchool over the summer. A short schedule change window will open in August, during which students may request adjustments by emailing their school counselor. Please note that no schedule change requests will be accepted after this period, and changes cannot be made based on teacher preference.
