Economics explores both microeconomics and macroeconomics. This course will address the three fundamental economic questions, the practice of making economic choices, comparison of the differing economic systems, and the connections between economics and government and current events. Students will explore basic economic concepts including but not limited to scarcity, supply and demand, market structures, business organizations, revenue, expenditures, macroeconomic indicators and the global economy.
AP Microeconomics - Grades 10, 11, 12 (NCAA)

The purpose for the AP Microeconomics course is to give students a thorough understanding of the principles of economics as they apply to the functions of individual decision makers (consumers and producers) within the economic system. The course will place emphasis on the nature and functions of product markets and includes the study of factor markets and the role of government in promoting greater efficiency and equity in the economy. The course provides the opportunity for students to receive college credit by taking the standardized A.P. Exam.
AP Macroeconomics - Grades 11, 12 (NCAA)

AP Macroeconomics focuses on the principles that apply to an economic system. The course places particular emphasis on the study of national income and price-level determination; ti also develops students' familiarity with economic performance measures, the financial sector, stabilization policies, economic growth, and international economics. Students learn to use graphs, charts, and data to analyze, describe, and explain economic concepts. This course will include a summer packet and summer readings. The course provides the opportunity for students to receive college credit by taking the standardized A.P. Exam.
