To Record in ScreenCastify

Step 1: Click the ScreenCastify icon in Google Chrome and choose what you want to record:

For each choice, you will get options you can turn on or off. Don't forget to click Show More Options

Step 2: When recording your screen, you have some annotation tools (bottom left of recording)

Note: The "X" will removed the annotation tools icon so that it does not appear in your video.

Step 3: While recording, you will see a red dot on the ScreenCastify icon. Click that to stop (or delete, restart, or pause) your recording.

Step 4: When you are finished, the video will open in a separate tab. Here is where you can change the title of your video (top left), as well as edit the length (scissor icons along bottom), and get a link to share (Google Drive on the right).

Helpful Hint: By default, videos are named either with the date/time they are made, or with the name of the page you are recording. Be sure the name is what you want it to be so that you know what the video is.

Step 5: Click the ScreenCastify icon and click the play icon to access your recording. You can also go to your Google Drive ScreenCastify folder to find the video.

To Link to a ScreenCastify Video

Step 1: Go to your Google Drive and select the video you want a link for. This would by default be in your ScreenCastify folder unless you have moved it.

Step 2: Select the video you want (so it becomes highlighted) and click the Share button at the top - the icon of the person with the plus sign.

Step 3: Now you can share it like any other Google Doc - there is a link you can copy to paste somewhere or you can type the name/email of someone to share it with them.

To Convert Your ScreenCastify File Type

When you create ScreenCastify videos, they are .webm files

This is great for linking to or embedding, but you cannot upload this into a program such as Windows Movie Maker if you wanted to edit it. You would need to convert it to an .mp4 file type.

One way to do this is by uploading the video to your YouTube account (which is part of your Nazareth College email) and then download it as an mp4 file!

Helpful Hint: Every Nazareth College email account comes with a YouTube account. To access yours, log into your Nazareth University email account, click the Launcher (9 tiles square) up in the top right by your name/icon and find YouTube in the list.
