Sharing Other Files

How to Share Other Files in Google Drive

As instructed in this page about sharing google documents with others, Google Drive also allows you to share other types of file formats such as .PDF, .docx, .pptx, . jpg, .mp4, and more. Google Drive does not typically allow you to edit these format files within Google and therefore has a different way to share these files with other individuals.

Step 1: Log into your Google Drive account

Step 2: Locate the file you wish to share in your google drive.

Step 3: You can share the file in 2 different ways.

a. The first way is to right-click the file and select share

Note: You can use this method to share google formatted files as well

b. The second way is to open the file, and select the 3 dots in the upper right corner and select share.

Step 4: To invite an individual, add their emails into the text box. If inviting multiple individuals, add each email separately.

Important Note: If sharing with faculty or staff, the email addresses should include @naz.edu. If sharing with students the email adders should include @mail.naz.edu in order to provide access in your course!

Step 5: Click the access field  and set the level of access desired for the collaborators (if needed).  This will allow you to determine viewer or editor access.

Step 6:  Enter details in the text field if you wish to include additional information in the sharing email (optional).

Step 7: Click Send to share finalize the share setting. This will send an email notification to the users about the shared file.
