How to Add a Video Recording to a Discussion Forum Post

This guide will help you with adding a video recording to a discussion forum post. 

Please be aware that videos posted to the forum in Moodle cannot be viewed from an Apple  mobile operating system (iOS), meaning from an iPhone or iPad. Videos can be viewed on any browser (we recommend Chrome or Firefox) on a Mac laptop/computer, PC laptop/computer, or an Android mobile device like a smartphone or tablet. 

Step 1: Log in to Moodle using your MyNaz username and password.

Step 2: Click on the course name on your Dashboard to open and view the course. 

Step 3: Click on the title of the discussion forum to open and view the conversation. 

Important note: There are two forum types in Moodle, click here if your discussion activity looks like this:

Step 4: Click Add a new discussion

Step 5: Click on Use advanced editor and additional options

Step 6: Click on the Record video icon

Tip: If you have trouble using the video recording tool, make sure you are running a current version of Chrome or Firefox! 

Step 7: Click Start Recording to begin recording your video. 

Note: The video will automatically stop recording after 2 minutes

Step 8: A pop-up will appear requesting access to your computer camera and microphone, click Allow.   

Note: the pop-up appearance will vary depending on your browser.

Step 9:. Once you are finished, click Stop Recording. 

Note: The allotted recording time for Moodle is 2 minutes, the video will automatically stop recording after 2 minutes.

Step 10: You can review your video before posting. Once it is ready, click Attach recording

Note: The box will close automatically, and it will take 30-45 seconds for your video recording to show up in the text box.

Step 11: Type in a subject for your post.

Step 12: Click Post to forum when you are ready to submit your post. 

Note: This is what your video will look like in the forum once you have posted it.
