Submit a Video Assignment

How to Submit a Video Assignment in Moodle

Moodle offers the capability to record a video using the built-in video recording tool in an assignment submission. Video posts in Moodle are limited to two minutes in length.

Please be aware that videos posted to the forum in Moodle cannot be viewed from an Apple mobile operating system (iOS), meaning from an iPhone or iPad. Videos can be viewed on any browser (we recommend Chrome or Firefox) on a Mac laptop/computer, PC laptop/computer, or an Android mobile device like a smartphone or tablet.  

Step 1: Select the Assignment.

Note: The Assignment name will depend on your enrolled course

Step 2: Scroll down below the details of the assignment, select Add Submission

Step 3: To create a video, click the Video Camera icon within the text editor. 

Step 4: In the window that appears, click Start Recording.

Step 5: A pop-up window will appear requesting access to your computer camera and microphone. Click Allow. 

Note: the pop-up window appearance may differ depending on your browser. 

Step 6: The system will begin recording immediately. Click Stop Recording when finished.

Step 7: A preview of the video will appear. Click Attach Recording to add it to the text box.

Note: The video may take up to 10 seconds to attach to the message.

Step 8: The video recording will appear as a preview within the message field. Click Save Changes to save the video. 

Step 9: If you need to make changes to your video, click Edit Submission.

Step 10: If you are finished, click Submit Assignment. 

Note: Remember, once you click submit assignment you will not be able to make any more changes.

Step 11: Moodle will ask to confirm your submission, click Continue.

Step 12: The video has now been submitted for grading.
