Statement of Problem

• I would add a higher level of detail to the problem statement. The problem statements are supposed to be 1-2 paragraphs while the NBPS student's problem statement is only 3 sentences

I would rate this strand low, as it solely identifies the problem.

Design Brief

• I would add a higher level of detail to the design brief. I would also word and format the design brief differently because the current design brief is visually unappealing.

I would rate this strand as medium. The strand does give a design brief and presents some relevant parameters.

Design Specifications

One improvement

• I would add justifications for the design specifications. The justifications for the market specifications were great and the student should have added a similar style of justifications for the design specifications.

I would rate this strand as low. The strand provides justification for the market specifications, however the design specifications are not explained well nor are given any justifications.

Overall Score

Based on my evaluation of the NBPS Criteria A, I conclude that said Criteria A should receive a score of 4 out of 9. The level of detail was subpar on this sample, and barely met all of the requirements for each section.

Comparison

The IBO sample Criteria A is better than the NBPS Criteria A.

• The IBO sample score 6/9, while I scored the NBPS student as a 4/9
• The IBO sample has a higher level of detail in every section of the Criteria A.
• The IBO sample is more aesthetically appealing and is more substantive than the NBPS Student's Criteria A.
• The IBO sample was much more organized than the NBPS sample. In the IBO sample, it was clear where the problem statement, the design brief and the design specification was. The NBPS sample had a good deal of information that could be attributed to the three section on the rubric, but it was scattered around the document.

Even though I believe that the IBO sample was better than the NBPS sample, the NBPS sample did better in some areas

• The NBPS sample documented and explained their research in the criteria, while the IBO sample merely mentioned their research. The NBPS sample has many graphics that can easily convey information to the reader.
