S5 - Final Blog Post

This is the final web post of my first project. My first project was to create a bust and a mug of someone which I did successfully. I first created the bust. The steps of how I created the bust are outlined in my video below. Then I created the mug with the head superimposed onto it. Then Mr. Moss assigned me to create a bust of a fellow classmate and a mug of a teacher. I created the bust of a fellow classmate and looks absolutely great and I have printed the mug once. Sadly, the one time I tried to print it didn't turn out very well as the hole was a hole but was filled in. Right now, I am trying ot print another version of the mug of Mr Sal that I believe will work because in the print preview, it showed that the inside of the mug was completely clear of anything.

The next people that attempt this project should maybe do some bobble heads ors tuff like that. It would be a twist on the traditional bust. And as words of advice, don't make the wall to thick, and don't make the mug too big or small. I reccomend a radius of 42.5mm and a height of 110mm. Wall thickness should be around 5 mm. Use meshmixer for basically everything, use 123D to create the actual mug and use tinkercad to make the hole that get rid of the center of the head. The file settings when exporting from 123D should be coarse so it is small enough for tinkercad. In 123D Catch, it gives you guidelines on how to take pictures. i suggest one pictures for the lowest oxes and 3 pictures for each of the higher boxes. Seems confusing but really is easy once you get the app. I took about 40-45 pictures for the busts and mugs. And don't worry it takes a while. My first bust took about an hour or two, and my first mug took 2-3 hours. My second bust took maybe 20-30 minutes and my second bust took 3-6 hours because there were some problems encountered. The next time I do it, it will be much easier now that i know basically al problems that could be encountered.
