S2 Weekly Blog 11/27 - 12/1

This week was pretty good. I began my first project. This project is the Speed Reducer Project. The goal is to use laser cut gears to make a shaft turn at the speed grass grows. This is about 1/25 of an inch per hour. This is a very slow speed and will be hard to accomplish. I first learned how to laser cut gears. I made a few prototypes and am still perfecting them. In order to actuallys pin the gears, I am going to use a lego minestorm system to turn the original shaft. However, since the project only allows me to use laser cut gears, I will not use the lego gears.
