There really weren't any debug errors. The hardware was pretty simple and easy to replicate and the code was straightforward. I honestly didn't know that arduino could test for voltage. I think it is pretty cool.

The battery was a fresh battery so the light turned green
The battery was stale and therefore did not have enough voltage
for the green LED to light up.
