In very broad terms, wellbeing can be described as the quality of a person's life. Wellbeing needs to be considered in relation to how we feel and function across several areas, including our cognitive, emotional, social, physical and spiritual wellbeing. Student resilience and wellbeing are essential for both academic and social development, and are optimised by safe, supportive and respectful learning environments.
A focus on wellbeing aims for all students and staff to be healthy, happy, successful and productive individuals who are active and positive contributors to the school and society in which they live.
At Mount Waverley Heights Primary School we work hard with our students to reinforce positive behaviours. Our school expectations of be responsible, be respectful, and be inclusive are values which we want our students to demonstrate everyday. We frequently reward these positive behaviours using Class Dojo.
Speak to your child about what these expectations could look like in your home. Get your child to make a poster, video, slide show or a write a song to demonstrate their understanding of what our school expectations would look like at your home. You could even ask them to come up with their own reward system!

Here is a lovely story about problems and what happens when we ignore them, but also what can happen when we face them.
As we have all experienced some problems throughout this time of online learning (your teachers included), we thought you might like to reflect on the problems you've overcome and what opportunities have come from them.
Perhaps you could discuss these with your family and friends, write about them, draw a picture about them, or simply just enjoy listening to the story.
Either way, we hope you enjoy the book and can learn that, although we don't want problems, they do have a way of changing us in unexpected ways.
