Listen to the story 'Too Many Carrots' by Katy Hudson.
This story looks at the importance of sharing with others instead of keeping everything to yourself.
Adult help needed.
Blue jelly
Plastic cups
Decorations (e.g. umbrellas, crushed biscuits for sand, tiny teddies/gummy bears, gummy fish, gummy lifesavers)
Make up the blue jelly according to the instructions on the packet.
Pour the jelly into plastic cups and let it set.
Decorate the jelly to make a beach scene (see pictures to the right for ideas).
1/2 cup cornflour
1/3 cup dish soap
1 tablespoon water
Optional: food colouring or glitter
Add your ingredients to a bowl and mix together.
The cornstarch dough should not be sticky, chalky or crumbly. If it is sticky, add a tiny bit of cornstarch. If it is dry, add a tiny bit of water.
Knead the dough until it is soft with a somewhat glossy surface.
Play with the dough!
Please note: This dough will not last as long as playdough and may only last a couple of days if stored in an airtight container.
2 eggs
2 glasses
4 tablespoons salt
Water
Spoon
Fill one of the drinking glasses almost to the top with plain tap water.
Gently drop one of the eggs into the water-filled glass. It sinks right to the bottom!
Fill the second drinking glass half-full with water.
Add four tablespoons of table salt to the water, and stir. Fill the rest of the cup with water, almost to the top.
Gently place the second egg into the saltwater solution…what happens to the egg?
Watch video for a demonstration of the experiment...
