9-9:20am - Whole Class Google Meet: Reading

For this session your child will require: -

Something to write on (Scrap book, Note pad, Paper)

9:20-9:40am - Small group reading: Students in this group will be asked to remain after the meet.

Task 1: Reading activity

Watch the video about Rapunzel.

Listen carefully and try to remember the order of the story (sequence of events).

Once you have watched the video complete the worksheet.

Circle the number to indicate the order in which events happened. For example circle the number 1 for the first event.

If you are not sure what order listen to the story again..

Bonus Task:

Think about how the characters may be feeling in different parts of the story. Have a go at writing what the character might be feeling and why.

Task 2: Read a book (or 2!) on Active Learn

Active Learn

Active learn is an online platform that provides levelled books suited for the students, we would like you to read at least one book a day and this can be accessed on www.activelearnprimary.com.au

Their log in information should be at the back of their magic words book.

Task 3: Writing

Pack your suitcase, go on the plane and visit Queensland. Watch the videos on the side to help you imagine your dream trip to Queensland and what it would be like.

Today you are to pretend you went on a trip to Queensland and you are to write about your experience in Queensland and all the fun things you did.

Queensland Trip checklist

  • Include how you packed and what you took to get to Queensland.

  • Make sure to include at least 3 places you visited in Queensland.

  • Also include what was your favourite thing to do in Queensland.

Please write on dotted third paper if possible. ( Template on the side, print as many as you need)

Challenge: If you would like to challenge yourself you might what to include details about how you felt and describe what you saw in each place.

  • I have used lower case letters.

  • I have sounded out my words.

  • I have used full stops at the end of my sentences.

Task 4: Smart Spelling Focus sound 'Qu'

Focus sounds 'qu'

In Prep we have a spelling program known as Smart Spelling. Every week we will be providing words for the students to practice that will be around our focus sound of the week.

This week is 'Qu', students are read the words and write the words daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
