Watch the video showing 'A Kitten for a King' by Brenda Parkes read aloud (beside).
Before reading, think about what you do when you are sick? What makes you feel better?
While reading, think about all the ways King Ethelred's servants tried to help him cheer up? Would any of these ideas worked on you if you were King Ethelred?
After reading, think about why the last idea was such a good idea for King Ethelred? Why do you think he wanted to stay in bed even after he was feeling better?
Activity: Draw and describe your ideal pet to help you feel better when you are sick.
