One of the most-used tools in classrooms is the whiteboard. Whether it’s the one hanging on the wall in the classroom or smaller boards students use individually, whiteboards have the potential to allow all students to actively engage with learning tasks, while at the same time making their thinking visible to themselves and to the teacher. Now that so much of our interaction with students happens remotely, we need new tools and new ways of thinking about them in order to re-create those face-to-face experiences.

Some of you have used Google Jamboard as a way to have students collaborate with one another remotely. Check out this module for more on Jamboard. But a few other digital whiteboard tools have surfaced recently that might just make you think twice about Jamboard. Whiteboard.chat and Whiteboard.fi are both FREE and have some amazing features. As with most instructional resources, which one you use depends on your students and your purpose. Here’s a quick comparison of the two to help you decide which one to explore first:
