Student

1.  LACES NexGen only

The following fields have been added to the student record at the Student Data tab/Key Info panel.  These fields may be added to a student view and searched at the Criteria Builder:

• Emergency Contact Phone

• Emergency Contact Name

• Emergency Contact Relation

The dropdown list for Emergency Contact Relation may be edited or items may be added by going to Choice Lists and selecting EmergencyContactRelation at the field 'Select a Choice LIst to View or Edit.' 

2. LACES NexGen only

The dropdown field 'Institutional' has been added to the student intake form in preparation for the upcoming WIOA changes.  This field is located at the Demographics tab/Demographics panel in the student record.

3. LACES NexGen and legacy LACES

The CASAS Appraisal / 80M has been added.  This is a math appraisal and does not populate an education functioning level.  

IMPORTANT NOTE:  States or independent literacy agencies who have a customized assessment list or do not use CASAS assessments may not see this assessment. 

Hours

1. LACES NexGen only

A rule has been added that prevents hours records from being added with a future date. Hours also cannot be edited and the date change to a future date. 

Staff

1.  LACES NexGen only

Unlinked hours may now be added in the staff record for staff members who are not assigned to a class or workshop. 

2.  LACES NexGen only

The following fields may be added to a view at the staff area:

Fixes/Updates

• The Group End date could be entered on a date that was prior to the start date. This has been corrected. The group end date must be after the group start date. 

• The enrollment date at the class enrollment grid would display as 'null' after paging when students were selected prior to entering an enrollment date.  This has been corrected. 

• Email Address has been added to the Material Reports:  

  • Material Checkout by Checkout Status

  • Due Date Range and Materials Checkout Status without Due Date

• The Current Level entered on the intake page was being removed when any fields were edited at the education page. This has been corrected.

Changes Related to WIOA

LiteracyPro will be gradually implementing changes to LACES that are related to WIOA (Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act) as information is obtained from OCTAE. Information about WIOA is available on the NRS and OCTAE websites.  WIOA  represents significant changes in how agencies will collect and report data beginning in the 16/17 fiscal year.  It is important that you become familiar with the upcoming WIOA changes.  

ABE and independent literacy agencies are affected by these changes made to LACES .

Based on input from state directors whose state uses LACES for their MIS, the following changes were made to LACES to allow agencies to begin collecting data that will be required for reporting based on the WIOA regulations.  These only represent what is currently known.  Additional changes will be made in LACES as the WIOA requirements are clarified by OCTAE.
