If you are a "user" of display screen equipment (DSE) as defined by the DSE regulations (see below) you can request an eye test. By providing eye and eyesight tests, the company aims to improve your comfort, job satisfaction and performance, thereby helping to prevent eyestrain, fatigue, stress and headaches.
If you are not a DSE "user", you and your family can make substantial savings on eye care through our eye care vouchers scheme.
You are a DSE user if the following criteria apply:
You normally use DSE for continuous or near-continuous spells of an hour or more at a time;
You use DSE this way on a daily basis;
Fast transfer of information between you and screen is an important requirement of your job;
You depend on the use of DSE to do your job.
You should speak with their Line Manager if you require an eye test.
You may make your own arrangements with a registered ophthalmic optician or registered medical practitioner with suitable qualifications, and the cost will be reimbursed by the Company once a receipt for the examination has been received.
The Company does not provide paid time off to attend eye and eyesight tests.
Where an eye and eyesight test shows that glasses are necessary to correct eye or vision defects for the purposes of DSE work, the Company will pay for the cost of basic frames and prescribed lenses to the value of £30. This cost will be reimbursed by the Company once a receipt has been received.
