💛 September 4 | Issue #8 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
We are in the middle of the fourth week of school! Student grades should be updated on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal through August 30th.
I am excited to remind you about the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, a powerful tool designed to help you stay engaged with your child’s academic progress and overall school experience. The Parent Portal provides you with real-time access to your student’s grades, attendance records, and more.
By regularly logging into the Parent Portal, you can:
Monitor Academic Progress: View up-to-date grades and assignment feedback, allowing you to identify areas where your child may need additional support or encouragement.
Track Attendance: Keep an eye on your child’s attendance patterns to ensure they are maintaining good habits and addressing any issues promptly.
Your involvement is crucial in helping your student succeed. By using the Infinite Campus Parent Portal, you can provide timely support, celebrate achievements, and address challenges as they arise. We encourage you to make it a part of your routine to check the portal regularly. If you have not yet activated your account or need assistance with the portal, please visit THIS LINK.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child's education.
Love,
Dr. Angela

Did you know that there is a Constitutional Amendment on the ballot this November that asks if we want our tax dollars to be spent with public schools, or sent to unaccountable private schools?
Amendment 2 is the Voucher Amendment and we must vote NO to protect our public schools, and to support ALL kids.

Mental Health Practitioner
I just wanted to remind parents/guardians of the mental health services that are available to your students.Â
1. We have a quiet space in the Student Support Center. This area is available to all students who need a break to re-center themselves or calm down. All they need to do is ask their teacher to use the space, and they will have up to 15 minutes before needing to speak to a SST member.Â
2. Any member of the SST is able to refer your student or a family member for mental health services in the community through JCPS's partnership with Care Solace. If you would like external mental health services please reach out to me or your counselor to make a referall and walk you through the process.
3. Individual and Group services are available from me throughout the school year. I am able to meet with all students with parent/guardian permission. Typically I meet with students once a week for up to 30 minutes at a time (this can vary depending on need). If you are interested in my services please reach out to me via my email and I can send you a permission form to get services started.
4. If there are any other mental health concerns, or material/educational concerns that you feel we could help with please fill out a support form, and one of us will reach out to you within 3 school days.
High School Counselor
This Friday we will have our first class meeting of the school year with seniors! This is a chance for your 12th grader to bring up any concerns or questions they have with school administrators.
On Oct 10, we will have a morning of testing. Seniors will take an official ACT, juniors and opt-in sophomores will take the PSAT, and remaining 10th and 9th will take the state mandated Civics exam. Stay tuned for more information!
Middle School Counselor
This Friday we will have our first class meeting of the school year with 8th graders. This is a chance for your 8th grader to bring up any concerns or questions they have with school administrators. We are also discussing the power of being an Advocate in our weekly Character Strong lessons, and I've challenged all students to practice their advocacy skills this week. We will begin ESS for our students who need a little extra help in reading and math next week. I sent an email to eligibble families yesterday with more information. If you have any quesitons, please complete the Student Support Request form and I will reach out to your shortly. Take care!
