💛 September 18 | Issue #10 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
I am thrilled to share that our recent Elementary Literacy Night was an incredible success! Last Thursday night it was truly wonderful to welcome 101 Brown Elementary students and their families, and see them come together to celebrate the joy of reading and learning. The event was filled with engaging activities, inspiring presentations, and a palpable sense of community spirit. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our teacher volunteers who supported this evening as well as our PTSA for sponsoring the snacks and guest speaker. I appreciate our FRYSC coordinator, Tara Davis, for providing the books. I want to extend a special thanks to Eriauna Stratton for organzing the event! The enthusiasm and support of all these stakeholders make events like these memorable and impactful. I look forward to more opportunities to come together and continue fostering a love for learning in our students.
I am excited to invite you to our upcoming Open House this Wednesday, September 18th from 5:30 to 6:30 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about what your student has been engaged in so far this year. Join us for a time when you can connect with teachers, tour classrooms, and discover how we are committed to supporting your student's educational journey. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing the many ways we are making a difference in students' lives.
Love,
Dr. Angela

6th Graders enjoyed using the URSA Lab for their first Math PBL. They applied finding area of triangles and parallelograms to design a 4th floor of the Brown School. They loved the opportunity to be innovative and create artifacts that matched their blueprints. Students advocated for what would be the most important addition to the Brown School. Watch out world these are the next generations of architects, engineers, and designers. Mrs. Alayna is also being recognized by the Modern Classrooms Project for her use of integrating technology and the style of learning her students are engaging in.Â

Mental Health Practitioner
I just wanted to remind parents/guardians of the mental health services that are available to your students.Â
1. We have a quiet space in the Student Support Center. This area is available to all students who need a break to re-center themselves or calm down. All they need to do is ask their teacher to use the space, and they will have up to 15 minutes before needing to speak to a SST member.Â
2. Any member of the SST is able to refer your student or a family member for mental health services in the community through JCPS's partnership with Care Solace. If you would like external mental health services please reach out to me or your counselor to make a referall and walk you through the process.
3. If there are any other mental health concerns, or material/educational concerns that you feel we could help with please fill out a support form, and one of us will reach out to you within 3 school days.
4. It is my hope to get a few groups started soon. I will be sending home permission forms to the students I have chosen for the initial groups. If you are interested in group for you child please reach out and I will see if I can organize a group that would benefit them later this year.
