💛 October 30 | Issue #15 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
All elementary students should have brought home their report cards Friday. Please remove the report card from the envelope, sign the envelope, and send the envelope back to school in your child's folder.
If you are coming in tomorrow to watch our music concert, please be aware that according to state law all visitors must present a state-issued ID at our Welcome Center to enter our building during the school day. Furthermore, be prepared to be screened through our weapons detection system. You can speed up the process by having binders, laptops/tablets, umbrellas, and eyeglass cases out and ready to pass around at the station. Please do not pass around your phone, keys, or water bottles - these items should remain in your pocket/bag and you should walk through the system with them in your possession.
There will be no Bear Essentials next week due to it being a short week. Don't forget to vote!
Love,
Dr. Angela
Please make sure your student's costume isn't offensive! If you have questions, please ask an administrator.

We have some volunteer opportunities on Saturday afternoon and Sunday and would love to have some helping hands. Please email Autumn if you have time. Â
If this passes - than public dollars can be used for unaccountable private schools. Notwithstanding would mean that the Sections 59, 60,171, 183, 184, and 189 of the KY Constitution would ignored. All very important to our public school education system. Â
For example, Section 183 requires the General Assembly to provide for an efficient system of common schools throughout the state. If this passes it means the general assembly could no ignore all common schools "public schools" and take all the funding and give it to private schools or not fund any public schools because they would not be required to anymore. Â
Section 189 - states that public funds or taxes cannot be used to aid or by any church, sectarian, or denominational school. This would be ignored if Amendment 2 passes. Â
KY Center for Economic Policy did an analysis of and found for the same cost as the vouchers - KY could meaningfully reinest in Public Education. Read the analysis report here!

The holiday season is often a time of remembrance, and sometimes grief for many people. If you or your family would be interested in any grief support groups or related services, the YMCA and Hosparus are offering ongoing classes over the course of the next few months. You can access information for the YMCA class here, and the Hosparus groups here. Both groups are free to those who wish to participate.

Everyone that attended the high school dance was so well-behaved and even the chaperones had a great time! Way to go high school <3

Letters of Rec are hot off the presses! Juniors and Seniors, make sure you are giving your recommenders at least 10 working days (discuss in person and follow up with an email) to complete your recommendations so you can get the best possible letters and get into ALL the programs!
**************************
Seniors, make sure you stay on top of college admission and scholarship deadlines. There are many 11/1, 11/15, 12/1, and 12/15 deadlines. I promise, your best work is work that has been drafted and revised, not what you finish at 11:59 pm on the due date <3
**************************
AP Test decisions have been made. Students that did not turn in a signed paper will not receive an exam. They can take the exam in a future year if they do not take it this year.
