💛 November 13 | Issue #16 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
Please mark your calendars for our annual Thanksgiving Lunch - see the information below in the PTSA section. Our PTSA leaders have worked with our nutrition staff to divide it up across two days in order to help with the congestion. The best part about that for me is not only seeing two days worth of parents, but I get to eat the Thanksgiving food two days in a row! Yum! Please remember that all visitors/volunteers must enter our school through our Welcome Center at Door #2 on S. First Street, and then proceed through our weapons detection system prior to signing in. All adult visitors must present a state-issued ID and be listed as a student's contact in Infinite Campus, be accompanied by a contact/guardian, or have verified written permission from a guardian.
This Friday we are having our 2nd Annual Multicultural Fair, Assembly, and our 1st ever Parade of Nations! This is a student organized and implemented endeavor! Thank you so much to our Asian Student Association and our Culture Club for taking on this important event. We will be live streaming this event on our Facebook page starting at 9:20 AM if you would like to watch it. We are unable to accommodate in-person visitors during the program due to the capacity limits of our auditorium. Thank you for your understanding.
Love,
Dr. Angela
Brown School Families,Â
Our attendance clerk, Chris Wise, resigned recently and we no longer have access to his email to receive doctor's notes or important information that some families are still sending to his email. Please send all documentation via email to Rita Myers (rita.myers@jefferson.kyschools.us) until our new attendance clerk is hired. Thanks!
Brown journalism students worked on our first issue of the school newspaper, The Bear Necessities, linked here: https://sites.google.com/jefferson.kyschools.us/24-25bearnecessities/home.
In this issue, you'll see invitations for students to submit pieces for publication, some Halloween pieces, election pieces, world news, and lots of student voice that has been put through a workshop process.
This newspaper is student led. They chose the articles; they laid out the website; they led every single aspect of this publication.
On the Meet the Staff page you will see who these student journalists are. If you see them please congratulate them on their hard work!

The holiday season is often a time of remembrance, and sometimes grief for many people. If you or your family would be interested in any grief support groups or related services, the YMCA and Hosparus are offering ongoing classes over the course of the next few months. You can access information for the YMCA class here, and the Hosparus groups here. Both groups are free to those who wish to participate.
In addition, we are holding a Mental Health Fair on 12/6 here at Brown. Many different mental health organizations, as well as ones related to mental health will be in attendance. Parents and Alumni are welcome to attend starting at 12:30 on the day of the Fair. Every grade will be able to attend and participate.

Spill the Tea on Middle School is happening TODAY from 3-4:30. Change in location, though. We will be meeting in room 310A. This is a parent event, but kids are allowed to come with their parents. Be prepared for casual, round table discussion on the joys and pains of raising a middle school student. Big thanks to Autumn our fabulous PTSA for providing our refreshments.
