💛 March 12 | Issue #28 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
I wanted to take a moment to share with you the important message our upper school students received last Friday during a special assembly on drug awareness and prevention. As part of our commitment to student safety and well being, we welcomed JCPS Police Officer Amber Ross to speak with our students about the dangers of drug use, the impact it can have on their health and future, ad the important of making safe and responsible choices.
The presentation was age-appropriate and interactive, encouraging students to think critically about peer pressure, substance abuse, and how to seek help if they ever feel uncertain or unsafe. Our goal is to empower our students with knowledge and resources so that they can make informed decisions and support one another in making positive choices.
We encourage you to continue the conversation at home. Talking openly abou the risks of drug use and reinforcing positive decision-making can have a lasting impact on your child. If you need any resources or support, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Thank you for parterning with us to keep our students safe and healthy.
Love,
Dr. Angela

Please remind your child (grades 6-12) to charge their Chromebook every night, especially this week, due to testing. They also need to bring their school issued Chromebook and charger with them every day. We have had a major increase in students needing to borrow a loaner Chromebook or a loaner charger from the lab and library recently. If a student has lost or broken their charger, they can purchase a used one for $10 or a brand new one for $25. They can turn their money into Mr. Drew in the lab in Room 220 to get a replacement charger, if needed. Thanks!

High School/ Middle School Athletics
Churchill Downs Concession Volunteers Needed- As a major fundraiser for Brown Athletics, we are working at Churchill Downs concessions for several races (4/26. 4/27, 5/1, 5/2. 5/3) . This will go a long way in fully funding our athletic programs for next year. In order to do this, we need volunteers. The more volunteers we have, the more money we will raise to spend on our student-athletes ($200-$280 per volunteer plus commission). Volunteers will need to arrive two hours before the first race.Â
We will need some volunteers to complete an online training if you are going to serve alcohol. That takes about 2.5 hours to complete and costs $30 ($27 after coupon code) and is good for three years. This will need to be completed before 3/10. To compensate for your time, money and effort, if you do this and volunteer, we will give you a pass to all athletic events at Brown for the 2025-26 school year.Â
If you don't want to do the training, we can still use you in a different role. Also, your portion of the money raised will go to the team you choose. Please fill out the form if you are interested.Â
The deadline for completing all trainings has been extended to April 1st.Â
