💛 March 19 | Issue #29 💛
Dear Brown School Family,
This Friday is the best day of the school year! Our SDL Showcase returns on Friday, March 21st. Every student will be presenting that day, and I would love to have a huge crowd of parents! Here is the schedule.
8:15-8:45 AM Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd Graders
9:15-10:00 AM Middle School Students
10:30-11:15 AM High School Students
1:15-2:00 PM 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders
Make sure you plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before the presentations start so that there is ample time for you to go through our weapons detection systems and get signed in. Don't forget to bring your ID. Please complete the RSVP Form HERE if you plan on attending. This will help the Welcome Center staff know how many family members to expect so you can get signed in and arrive promptly to your student's presentation.
Love,
Dr. Angela

This morning, parents, teachers, students, and community members gathered in front of Peace Park to advocate for fully funded and equitable public education. United in their commitment to supporting every child, the group donned red and carried signs emphasizing the importance of strong public schools in building strong communities.
The rally began at 7:00 AM, with remarks at 7:10 AM underscoring the need for adequate resources, special education support, and school meal programs. At 7:20 AM, participants walked together into the Brown School, demonstrating their collective resolve to protect public education and ensure every student has access to quality learning opportunities. Â
High School Athletics
Churchill Downs Concession Volunteers Needed- As a major fundraiser for Brown Athletics, we are working at Churchill Downs concessions for several races (4/26. 4/27, 5/1, 5/2. 5/3) . This will go a long way in fully funding our athletic programs for next year. In order to do this, we need volunteers. The more volunteers we have, the more money we will raise to spend on our student-athletes ($200-$280 per volunteer plus commission). Volunteers will need to arrive two hours before the first race.Â
We will need some volunteers to complete an online training if you are going to serve alcohol. That takes about 2.5 hours to complete and costs $30 ($24 after coupon code) and is good for three years. This will need to be completed before 4/1. To compensate for your time, money and effort, if you do this and volunteer, we will give you a pass to all athletic events at Brown for the 2025-26 school year.Â
If you don't want to do the alcohol training, we can still use you in a different role. Also, your portion of the money raised will go to the team you choose. Please fill out the form if you are interested.Â
The deadline for completing all trainings has been extended to April 1st.Â

Mental Health Practitioner
I wanted to remind all of our parents/guardians that my services are available for students individually with guardian consent. If you would like me to meet with your student to work on any emotional or behavioral goals while at school, please reach out to me, and I will walk you through my referral process. Please also feel free to put any concerns on our student support form! In addition, I know that during this time of year there are often times where students may have concerns about self-harm or suicidal thoughts. A great resource for this is to call 988 or go to https://988lifeline.org/ .
High School Counselor
JCTC has revised their process on dual credit and parent communication. If your student completes THIS PROCESS, this will allow parent(s)/guardians to be able to call or email JCTC directly with questions about courses and billing.

Jefferson Sign-ups-Although JCTC has already visited for Advising, Robin and Norah will meet with individual students that were not able to attend. Please make sure you complete the Dual Credit Interest Form (and all embedded steps) so we know to find you! We will not meet with students and approve their registrations until all steps in the form are complete including the paper contract signed by a parent/guardian.

Scheduling: Robin is deep in testing, but will be scheduled in study halls for individual conversations with students about next year's schedule. If your student does not have a study hall, please have them complete the Student Support Form above to request a time. Please allow students to own their own destiny. We can call a parent when meeting, but time does not allow for Robin to meet with parents and still be able to see all students. Encourage your student's independence and communicate with them your thoughts.
Middle School Counselor
Scheduling 8th grade for High School: Robin will be scheduled in 8th grade classrooms for individual conversations with students about next year's schedule after spring break. Please allow students to own their own destiny. We can call a parent when meeting if necessary, but time does not allow for Robin to meet with parents and still be able to see all students. Encourage your student's independence and communicate with them your thoughts. Materials that can help guide them are posted in the Google Classroom-"Class of 2029-Brown High School". Make sure you are in the Brown High School version, it is new.
