<Ghost in the Wall>은 대만의 유령 문화인 '우란절(盂蘭節)''에서 영감을 받아 창작한 공연이다. 작품에는 작가가 말타, 라트비아, 볼리비아(아이마라 문화), 말레이시아와 같은 다양한 지역을 여행하던 중 접한 영혼과 유령 이야기가 반영되어 있다. 작품은 만화풍으로 제작된 오브젝트와 그림자를 결합하여 어둡고 초현실적인 기이한 여정을 통해 우연, 꿈, 그리고 두려움에 대한 여정을 제안한다. 《Ghost in the Wall》은 2022년에 진행된 칼라 크락트 《Divine Cyborg #17》에 이어 쉬에서 두번째로 진행되는 프로그램이다. 라이브 퍼포먼스 후 인천 지역 고유의 유령 서사를 중심으로 작가와의 대화가 진행 될 예정이다.  

작가 소개
칼라 크락트는 독일, 영국, 스페인에서 순수미술, 예술사, 언어학 및 미디어 예술을 공부하고, 포르투갈, 대만, 한국, 라트비아, 스페인 및 독일 등 다양한 국제 레지던시 프로그램에 참여했다. 2008년부터 시각 예술, 만화, 애니메이션 및 오브제 연극을 아우르는 라이브 시네마 작품을 제작해오고 있다. 2012년 연극 감독이자 극작가인 안드레스 벨라디에즈 (Andrés Beladiez)와 프로젝트팀을 공동 설립하고, 영화적 무대 작품을 제작했다. 2018년 팀으로 크로아티아 PUF 페스티벌에서 작품상을 수상했다. 같은 해 칼라는 유럽문화재단으로부터 STEP 기금에 선정되었고, 2019년 몬테네그로의 코토르 페스티발(Kotor Festival)에서 최우수 공연 상을 수상했다. 작가는 스페인 바르셀로나에 기반을 두고 있으며 전 세계에서 활동하고 있다.

"Ghost in the Wall" presents an immersive performance rooted in the rich tapestry of Taiwanese ghost culture, particularly drawing inspiration from the Hungry Ghost Month (盂蘭節). The performance is a fusion of encounters with spirit and ghost stories collected during the artist’s travels spanning diverse locales such as Malta, Latvia, Bolivia (Aymara culture), and Malaysia. The piece delves into the realms of coincidence, dreams, and fears, weaving together comic-like objects and their shadows to craft a mesmerizing journey into a dark and surreal world.

Organizing the performance of "Divine Cyborg #17" by Karla Kracht in 2022, "Ghost in the Wall" marks the second installment in the shhh program. Following the performance, there will be a conversation with the artist, centering on the ghost stories embedded in the cultural fabric of Incheon.

Karla Kracht
Karla studied fine arts, art history, linguistics and media arts in Germany, UK and Spain. She participated in international residency programmes in Portugal, Taiwan, Korea, Latvia, Spain and Germany. Since 2008, Karla has been creating Live Cinema works that range between visual arts, comic, animation and object theater. In 2012, she co-founded a collaborative project with theater director and dramaturge Andrés Beladiez, creating cinematic stage productions. In 2018, they were awarded for the most innovative work at PUF Festival in Croatia and she received the STEP Grant from the European Cultural Foundation. In 2019 she received the award for best performance at Kotor Festival in Montenegro. Karla is based in Barcelona, Spain and works worldwide.
