1. To build Designations, select the Designations icon in the Navigation Bar.
2. Select the folder to add the designation to. Right-click, select Add, and select Designation.
3. Enter the name of the designation. When entering the name, enter the type and description to assist PMs.
4. Press Enter.
5. Select “Add multiple parts…” from the ribbon above.
6. The Parts Selection dialog box will open. There are two options to choose from: database and takeoff pads.
Global Items:
Database Option: Drill down to the part needed.
Double-click the item from the list in the right panel
2. Takeoff Pad Option:
Select the part needed from the takeoff pad.
Items will appear in the background as they are added.
7. Click the “X” in the upper right corner of the dialog box when all items are added. 7.The items appear in the designation. Most items are “salmon” in color which means the data is incomplete.
Note: Only check items to consolidate in designations. The checked items roll up to the top item and combines the labor and consolidates items in the Extension. The rest of the items are listed separately.
8. When all fields are complete, they turn white.
9. Click the “X” in the upper right corner of the dialog box when the designation is complete.
All newly added items are added to the bottom of the list in the selected folder. If these need to be moved, click and hold, and move to the correct order.
Note: Creating designations can be very time consuming. There is a folder in all of the estimate templates labeled “Faith Templates”. There are several designations for light fixtures, switchgear and lighting control created for you to use as a starting point.
10. How to copy and modify and existing designation.
To copy and paste designations.
a. Go to Designations and open the Faith Design/Build Light Fixtures folder.
b. Right click and copy Type AA.
c. Right click the Building Lighting folder and select paste.
d. Rename to Type A1.
e. Double click to open to change any attributes, if needed.
f. Put in order, if needed.
To add a place holder designation.
a. Right click the applicable folder, select Add, and select Designation.
b. Enter a name.
c. Close without adding attributes.
d. When the details are known, open each designation and add attributes. \
11. To complete the takeoff of a designation, navigate back to the Takeoff screen.
12. In the upper right panel, click the Designations tab.
13. Select the designation folder and single-click a designation icon.
14.Enter the number of required designations.
