Congratulations go out to Kenzie Cormier for placing second place in this year’s Abigail Phelps Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution Essay Competition. Kenzie wrote a historical fiction story about the tea tax protests in North Carolina prior to the American Revolution. Congratulations Kenzie!
East Granby Middle School is very proud of you!
Students, Faculty, and Staff came out in full effect with the school spirit on this awesome Ugly Sweater Day! Have some smiles and laughs by checking out the photos below!
The 7th grade team put together an amazing agenda on the last day before break. REMIS, creative activities... and a new tradition at EGMS: The Reindeer Games! Students in 7th grade were challenged to do "minute to win it" activities against each other with some festive and creative themes today, and they had a ton of fun and joy. Check out "a few" pictures below!
Every month, EGYS comes in to do a check in on our students at lunch time. Typically, they bring along resources, coloring pages, manipulatives, fidgets, and brochures to help our students to have fun while developing the social and emotional skills that are critical at this age. They also like to sprinkle in some fun with some surprises on occasion... so this time, they decided to fill up our MS Gym with an INCREDIBLE inflatable obstacle course!!! Fun was had by all, and we're grateful for the support and positive energy that they bring us every time they visit!
EGMS Families, please join us to kick off the 24-25 East Granby Basketball season at 7PM on Friday, December 13th! Games, skills contests, prizes, and snacks are just a part of the fun as we gather the community get together to celebrate the new season. We hope to see EGMS parents and students there! Thanks to the EGHS Booster Club for sponsoring this event.
Many thanks to EGYS for organizing and planning a fun community event for our EGMS students in the MS Commons! Lots of fun was had by all, and the competition was pretty amazing! I don't envy the judges in having to make some tough decisions.
We are so proud of the spirit that students and adults brought to EGMS this week in getting hyped up for the PJ for a Day Cause on Friday, December 13th! We had a successful fundraiser to help support the Connecticut Children's Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders, and we had a lot of fun doing it. Great work EGMS!!!
8th grade students helped me fill and set up the filters for the trout and salmon. Fish eggs will arrive in early January, grow with us all winter, and be released into Salmon Brook in late April.
In Mr. Tomala's classroom, the walls are well decorated with student projects that show their learning about Mesopotamia, human advances in technology and social construct, and some creative expressions with how to tell stories like humans did a long time ago. This is a fun room to be in!
Group work made fun in 7th grade science when the class goes into Starbucks Mode where you can pick your seat, your partner, and some smooth jazz plays in the background. Students were very focused and collaborated while using an online simulation to analyze the motion of the particles in different solids, liquids and gases.
The Life Skills students had a wonderful time at the holiday party sponsored by the Lion's Club!
In Mr. Dorr's class, students had fun dissecting lampreys, which are nicknamed "vampire fish"! This activity was a huge hit.
During the week of December 9-December 13, we will be having a spirit week enroute to our annual PJDay for a Cause Drive for children with cancer on Friday, December 13. Please review these two fliers for details!
Looking to make more room in your home before the gift giving season begins? Do you have any gently used board games that you no longer need or want? We can help you!
Please consider donating them to EGMS! We would love to help take those games off of your hands so we can use them at school during our lunch waves or other appropriate times throughout the year. If you have any that you would like to donate, please bring them to the EGMS Main Office. Thanks in advance for your consideration and generosity!
